Authorization Codes

Service Description

An authorization code allows local or long-distance calls from any campus business telephone to be billed to the University or Business BARC account of your choosing. All authorization code calls are billed at the same rates as calls dialed directly from a campus business telephone.

Authorization codes are typically used in areas where telephones are restricted from off-campus or long-distance calling, or to allow toll charges to be billed directly to grant accounts.

Getting an Authorization Code

Note: For billing purposes, authorization codes are assigned a fictitious telephone number so that they appear as a separate line item on the monthly Communications Services billing statement.

Using an Authorization Code

An authorization code can be used on any UCSB business line. For details, see our Dialing Instructions.
