In support of the Purchasing department's focus on replacing the campus's procurement systems and the efficiencies gained by managing telephone services within a single unit, Communications Services has assumed support for establishment of cellular services covered by University Policy G-46, Guidelines for the Purchase and Use of Cellular Phones and Other Portable Electronic Resources.
Communications Services will assist you in setting up your department's service with the select carrier of your choice, including devices, billing, and payment relationships. We will also help you set up Flex card payments, if consistent with your payment processes, and guide you to support resources for service plans and equipment.
Communications Services can also provide a concierge type of service that, on a recharge basis, will:
- Assess your department needs.
- Research and recommend plans and devices.
- Act as your agent in establishing your department's ongoing service relationship with your carrier.
- Identify training resources for the devices you choose.
Plans are underway to add cellular service information to the Communications Services online catalog. We will identify locally available cellular services–including companies that have Strategic Sourcing agreements in place–and provide links to promoted devices and service plans.
