Outgoing Caller ID

The UCSB telephone system automatically provides outgoing Caller ID information for the following types of calls:

  • When you dial another 893 number using the last four digits.
  • All local toll calls (e.g., to Santa Maria and Lompoc).
  • Long distance, international, and 911 calls.

The system does not automatically transmit Caller ID information for outgoing local calls (e.g., within Isla Vista, Goleta, and Santa Barbara). Instead of the specific telephone number that is placing the call, it will transmit 805-893-6000.

To force the system to transmit your Caller ID information when making an outgoing local call, do the following:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Dial *82.
  3. Dial the desired seven-digit local telephone number.

To force the system to transmit your Caller ID information when you are forwarding your calls to an off-campus or cellular telephone number, do the following:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Dial *72. You will hear an interrupted or "stutter" dial tone.
  3. Dial *82.
  4. Dial the number to which calls will be forwarded. You will hear a confirmation tone.
  5. Hang up.
